We anticipate building 15-25 homes, and intend to build a few of each of the following home types to ensure a mix of household types (families, single people etc). Each includes a share in the common facilities.

A 3/4 bed home
B 2/3 bed home
C 2 bed home
D 1 bed home
E Studio Flat

Households coming on board early in the project will have the opportunity to influence the home sizes and costs. It won't be possible for each household to design their own specification as it would significantly increase costs but we hope that we can agree on designs to suit all household sizes. Groups of households committed to buying the same size homes will be able to work together on the internal design of that home type, as far as the overall project timescale allows it.

The design of homes will depend on the site chosen but we anticipate
  • There is likely to be a mix of flats and houses
  • The kitchen will not be included in the house spec but it may be possible to buy an 'off the shelf' kitchen during build phase
  • There will be plenty of natural light
  • The homes will be built to as high an environmental specification as possible within the financial constraints
  • The cohouse will include large living, cooking and dining areas for the use of all residents.
